My insurance offer is for Northubria Uni, local one, and I am unlikely to get grades for firm offer, and I want to stay home anyway. BUT I really want to move into the halls. The application form is only for students from other cities. So how do I get a place in the halls, even though I am local? Really don't want to stay in my room with my little sister!!

You probably just have to join the transfer list and wait until a place in halls comes up, which it might not. You'll also be fairly low on the waiting list, being an insurance person AND local...

Sorry I can't give you anything more positive! It depends a lot on the uni, and on how much accommodation they actually have.

    Hmmm....

Well, if I couldn't get a place in halls then I'd move into a flat. Is living in a flat much more expensive than halls? Can't be that bad as students have to in their 2nd year anyway. Oh, and do students get reduced costs or something? I'm so clueless about all this! I should really be revising though  procrastination is fab!

Well, I doubt that students get reduced costs - unless of course you decided to share a flat with a friend. Whether or not it's much more expensive than halls would really depend on the price of the latter, I think. Sorry, can't help you there!

Well, best thing to do is share with a number of students. And there are bound to be students looking for a 3rd or 4th person to share a flat with... not sure how you could find out about this though except maybe phoning the accommodation office at your uni and they might be able to tell you how to get in contact with students who are looking for some flatmates. Not sure what else to suggest...
