Urban music scene in Nottingham

I think there's loads there. Tons of clubs in Notts, a lot of the student nights seem to focus on cheese though. xx

Hey mousey, how are u? I'm doing maths. I originally applied 2 do maths and economics, but didn't get into that - they offered me maths instead though, so i accepted it.

I've applied to Broadgate and Raleigh park! I wanted to go for self catering, so I went with these. Broadgate's my 1st choice though cause it's menta be much closer to the uni campus - I realllly can't do with travelling to lectures everyday!

So what you doing at Notts?

I live in Nottingham, going to Sheffield university in Sept, and there is a really good balance in the night life here. Whatever music your into. Loads of clubs do hip-hop/r&b nights you'l prob be going to Stealth quite alot, and hockleys prob the area with the most bars that focus more on that kinda music! Seriously though, your well catered for whatever music your into. Awesome night life!

Nope travelling is not a fun thing, neither is cooking for yourself so i went for the Uni Park option. I'll be doing English hopefully if i get AAB. I should though, so i'm not too worried. Confident enough to order some books anyway. xx

What's the urban music sceen like in Nottingham? Cause I NEED my hip-hop/ r&b / garage when i go out clubbing and ravin!!!

aparently notts uni dnt hav many urban music gigs but evry1 goes to the notts trent nights where they got rnb hip hop nights regularly... ye i no wot u sayin bout needin the rnb hip hop n garage wen goin out.

Nottingham Uni nights tend to have RnB rooms in the night clubs rather than nights. These in my experience have always been pretty popular.
There are bars in the lace market end of town which do the garage thing, but icant think of there names of the top of my head.
That style of music is definitly available in Notts though.

You guys have got it all wrong. Nottingham music scene is awesome. Plenty of high quality drum n bass and hip hop courtesy of detonate and camoflage. The house music scene is very good aswell which is based at stealth. As venues go there are plenty with rock city, rescue rooms, stealth and ofcourse the legendary marcus garvey centre. Shame you freshers will miss out on sasha at stealth on sept 16th but watch out for soulwax and 2 many djs at stealth at the start of october.

as for garage...well, boi....Notts is drrrrryyyy fi dat!! its a shame really, but there are a couple alrite nights every now and again, get me?! VIBE Society at Notts (big upssss) do their best to keep it gully for da students, had a good few nights from dem this year...

Dont watch it tho, garage DJ rite here, truss, da scenes gon get big again soon..

but like I said...Notts is all goody good for hiphop and ting...dont worry get me!!

Wat u sayin skanz, safe for that! Very reassuring to hear that my tastes are catered for still....So can u recommend the best venues to check out (apart from what u mentioned already)?

And yeah there's a works in London, in Kingston, thats heavy, especially on student nights so i would expect the same up there!!

A bit surprising to hear about the lack of garage/grime though, the scene already has blown up big! ..Well in london anyway. Don't worry though, us London heads are gonna be bringing big tings to Nottingham lol.

anyway..yeh!! Notts is big boi!! on da real, its like a mini london u get me!? only da shops close at like 5 or sotn..no late night shopping like da ldn nah mean!?

theres nuff clubs still tho...Media's big for hiphop/rnb...what i like about it is there's a nic emix of people, you get your students but you also get a fair few notts peeps which i think is nice get me!?

Oceana jus opened, jus like da one in Kingston (which i aint been too mind) ..but to be honest man cant stannnd dat place...on da real!! its massive yeh, but it dont feel like i club at all to me..you know what i mean! jus too glitzy, feels like a hotel boi..

but yeh, Marketbar's another one i think you'd like...a bit too many posers but music by Notts DJ Santero is aiiiight...quite good at times tho...

Media's got a nice 'ethnic' mix too..get me?! u got peeps of all colours and races etc. which is nice cos mosssst student nights are a bit...well, i think u know wah i mean!?

Aite i'm deffo gonna be checkin out Media then, sounds like my kinda place!! I need a good "mix" of people definitely, its just what i'm used to from being in London you get me. I wanna be seeing people of all colours and races!!
