St Chad's Hallgarth Street Accommodation

Before I arrived in Durham, I inquired about St Chad's Hallgarth Street accommodation as I could find no photos of it anywhere on St Chad's website. No one was able to tell me anything. I went ahead and accepted my allocation to Hallgarth Street and am glad that I did!

The Hallgarth Street acc is in an old house--it used to be the residence of St Chad's chaplains. Presently, it is let to 5 St Chad's students each year--mainly postgrads. The accommodation is self-catered but we have a cleaner who comes twice weekly. The college even supplies toilet tissue for us!

We have our own washer and dryer, three toilets, a bathtub and a shower, a kitchen, a dining/living room, a creepy but neat basement, and a garden out back. All of our bedrooms are quite large.

To give you an idea of the place, here are a few photos.

My bed. A few of the rooms have double beds.

My room has a fireplace (unusable unfortunately) with closets on both sides.

I have a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

I've got a desk and nice, big windows overlooking the street.

The view from my bedroom window.

The kitchen.

The living/dining room.

Steps leading up to the garden.

The garden and garden shed.

View of the back of the house from the garden.

Hope this helps anyone who is trying to decide which residence to list first when applying to Chad's. Bon chance!

Plus you're near the Victoria Inn, the best pub in Durham :fyi:

I never knew Chad's even had Hallgarth street accommodation.
Thanks for this! Do you know whether there are any spaces still available in the Hallgarth Street house for start in October 2015? Or have all five bedrooms been snapped up?

This is very helpful! What is the bathroom situation? I see there are three toilets, but only one shower/tub?
