Throat infections and drinking milk

I have the start of a throat infection just now and as there was nothing else to drink i had to have a glass of milk there. While doing so i had a thought...
A throat infection is usually caused when bacteria builds up in the throat (or so i've read). There is bacteria in milk. So would drinking milk make a sore throat worse by causing the bacteria from the milk to mix with the bacteria causing the sore throat and make it worse or could it make it better by possibly killing the bacteria in the throat or something? Maybe it doesn't make a difference at all but i thought i would ask anyway.

I wouldnt think so, i usully drink the following when I get a throat infection, or cold, o anything whoch causes my throat to become sore:
Pour into a mug:
2 tablespoons of clear honey
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Sugar (if required)
Boiling water

Works wonders for me!

Its bloody gorgeous. I made it slightly different though. I put a tablespoon of lemon juice, about an inch of honey in the mug, tablespoon of sugar, a big glop of calpol and boiling water. Lovely jubbly.

I have never tried it with Calpol in, but thats mainly because I have hallucinations when I have Calpol, cheap way to get the stoned experience though I suppose!

All dairy encourages mucus production so if you have cold/flu symptoms (dunno if you have anything like that with your sore throat) but in those cases I think milk would make things worse.
I always drink milk when i have a sore throat: so soothing and cold!! then again, i get sore throats fairly regularly. hmm. this has never occured to me before.

When I had my last throat infection, all I could drink was milk..I don't think it's going to do you any harm at all.
