Other universities applied to: Imperial, Bath and Bristol (and ETH Zurich)
Predicted A-levels(or equivalent): I'm doing the German Abitur and it's very difficult to predict anything there really but I'm hoping for something between 1.3 and 1.5 for the overall average.
Mentally preparing for maaaaaany rejections though
I have received some sort of acknowledgement from Imperial a few days ago. In my opinion it was a fairly pointless email, telling me that Imperial is very competitive and decisions might not be made until late January.
Ahh another german engineer-to-be on here, where are you from? I was also thinking about applying to the ETH, but I believe the deadline is next year huh?
Engineering type: EEM
Name of College: New College
Other universities applied to: UCL, Imperial, Durham
A-levels(or equivalent): German Abitur overall 1.1, currently on a gap year volunteering in South Africa (unfortunately doing nothing anyhow related to engineering)

Heya fellow German applicant! Wow 1.1 congrats on that which were you advanced level courses (and what did you call them on you UCAS)? I'm from Niedersachsen and in year 13 atm. The deadline for ETH is 30 April 2010 but you can apply from today on. I'll probably fill in the form some time during christmas break.

thx, it was pretty surprising, just got really lucky in the final exams...Hessen even gave me two shots at the maths final exam
well thats the next part about my not quite standard engineering application mathematics and english as higher level courses (that's what I called the modules on ucas) had physics not even in the final exams (13,14,14,15 points for the semesters tho). held a politics&economics in english presentation instead, yours?

Yeah I heard about that mistake made on that maths paper. Everyone in my school is incredibly worried about something similar happening to us. Did they actually tell you what you got the first time?
We have to take 3 on advanced/higher level so mine are maths, physics and english, then I'm doing chemisty on normal level and history for my oral exam. Sooo worried about the last one. I'm sure you'll be fine with your physics...sooo jealous of your 15pts though. I'm still waiting for that to happen but for some teachers the scale just seems to end at 13 or when you're really lucky 14.
haha luckily my physics teacher was my maths teacher as well... but ya I also had and hated those teachers..looking at other schools just throwing out the 15s! at least Zentralabitur helped a little bit with that well they were not allowed to, but my teacher gave us hints after the first time, and after the second one he drew a diagram which grades were improved and by how much, without saying who actually has them... so after all it was easy to reconstruct my first grade...improved by 1 point saving my 1,1
Hey guys, although we do have a general engineering thread, I thought that it will be nice to have one for Oxford Electrical Engineers. Just post your current status and we will begin from there.
..... does everyone not realise Oxford engineering is a GENERAL engineering course?
Well it is for other engineerings, but for Electrical engineering they have a separate course code H620, and in my acknowledgement from the university and the college (Balliol), they mention Electrical engineering and not engineering sciences.
Engineering Type: I put Chemical Engineering on UCAS, but I doubt I'll specialize in that. It's why I'm applying to Oxford; they have a general course!!! =D
So, are you guys doing anytrhing for interview preparation? Everyone at my school is stressing about the TSA and other tests for their subjects tomorrow. Kinda makes me feel as if I should actually be doing something as well...
