How did you find your Worcester interview?

URGH...I'm so pissed off, I kept messing up really easy things (not sure how much I'm allowed to say) but basically I got the answers and the tutors kept being really positive and they genuinely seemed interested in my personal statement etc. BUT I spend far too long over small maths things like 0/-1!! I don't think they were particularly impressed but we'll have to wait and see...

Did you have one? How did it go?

Whenever you visit an Oxford college as a stranger you always report to the porters' lodge.

You won't be able to get into the college without going past it.

Yeah I had my second interview there but it didn't go as well as my first one. The tutors were really nice as you say but I didn't get off to a great start on the maths (my mind just stopped working at one point so I needed a bit of guidance), however I think the interview got better as it progressed. Thankfully though the tutors were (or at least seemed  ) really positive even during the points at which I was struggling and so I got there in the end!

They were A/A* A-Level maths questions to be honest. The physics were of the same standard.

The main thing is that I didn't think that they were above A-Level standard (like AEA or anything like that). Know your C3 and C4 and you'll be alright.

On that note, I thought I would fail my physics questions but they were way easier than the maths questions. good luck eh! Where's your interview?

at both colleges, when we started, they asked "why do you wanna study engineering?" (i said that its because i want to make a difference as far as climate change goes, and then they asked me how i'd be able to do that as a chemical engineer) but that was it.

To be honest, to do the question i did, you didn't have to know C4 actually.

Anyways, i had a core maths question, followed by a mechanics question (at St Catz). then at Univ i had a physics question followed by another mechanics question.

DON'T WORRY THOUGH!!!! The questions are really easy, you just need to make sure that you're relaxed and focused enough not to make them too hard for yourself. Like, I spent aaaaages going round in circles when i'd already had like five hints but hadn't interpreted them properly

It just sucks because when i don't get in i'll know that it's because of those STUPID mistakes i made

They only have 30-40 mins so they won't ask you anything too hard. take my advice for it: just be calm

I was given a choice between trigonometry and polynomials and i [stupidly] chose trigonometry. no identities and that kinda stuff though.

good luck :o:

Was is just at my two colleges or did the ratio of places to applicants drop quite significantly for engineering?

I counted at St Annes:

13 Direct applicants inc 3 EEM
~18 from other colleges, inc 6 EEM.

St Annes usually takes 5 ES + EEM.

i made alot of stupid mistakes on easy questions for both of my interviews. The easy stuff i completely did not realise, which makes me look really stupid.

Everyone i seem to have spoken says they messed up and it didn't go well. Is there anyone who thinks it couldn't have gone better for them?
when do we hear from them?

PPE candidates get to know by the end of this week!
