Oxford Engineering Students and Applicants

Have you got any thing from oxford or imperial yet? and what's your course ?

Name of College/Open Application: Balliol College

Other universities applied to: Imperial, Bristol

Predicted A-levels(or equivalent): 45 points in IB
Also sending in SAT scores (2190 in SAT I, 800 in Maths II and 800 in Physics)

Ah.. now that I think about it, I should really have looked at the other colleges too! either way, SEH is pretty enough and small.. I like small.

I hope that doesn't make it any more difficult to get that interview!

I was just reading this thread and SEH sounds pretty cool!

I actually have no idea of what to do while preparing. I mean other than just brushing up on my school stuff. I didn't mention any books in my PS, so I don't have anything extra to read
However, its pretty hard to prepare when I don't know yet whether or not I will actually get interviewed!

I was wondering, what do you think are the chances are that the tutors will mention random books/topics?

Honestly, I have no idea what they may or may not ask us.. I doubt they'll ask us of random books, but they may say "You say you're interested in _____ aspect of engineering, __________" (if you get what I'm trying to say)

You might be better off brushing up on your maths (including pure maths), if you need to brush up on anything. Engineering is essentially maths.

yes, I suppose so. But can they ask you maths questions? It seems a bit odd...

I applied to Imperial and UCL
Have heard absolutely nothing from the both of them except for the whole general acknowledgement mails.

Some time ago there was this document floating around about the interview for Engineering The applicant actually drew a diagram about what they asked him during the interview and stuff... It was pretty detailed!
He's now studying at Keble or something

It would be quite normal for the interview to consist of only maths questions and a few pleasantries. If you think it odd to be tested on your maths ability perhaps you will get a bit of a shock when you start studying.
