# Rate Equations watch

1. I'm a tad confused.. Is water not included in the rate equation but included in the expression for Kc?

And also, if something is zero order, then it's not included in the rate equation, right? Cos anything to the power zero is 1?

Thank yeeee! =)
2. yea if it has a zero order it isnt in the rate equation....i think water can be in the equation when it isnt in an excess (thus its conc will change)....
3. If water concentration affects the rate of reaction, there is no reason why it cannot be in the rate equation. I don't find kinetics too bad apart from defining the different parts (e.g. define the rate constant, order of reaction, overall order of reaction, concentration - eek!)
4. water is a liquid and not a solution (it is the medium and not a solute) - therefore it cannot have a concentration in aqueous systems - it is not included in the rate equation.
5. im sure it is when it is actually affecting the rate...i read it isnt only when in excess....sum1 please verify

if its a reactant its in the rate equation, though it maybe have order 0, in which case its multiplies the rest of the rate equation by 1...
7. So does that mean it can or can't be in the rate equation?
