cudnt u use an identity, i think cot^2 (2x) = cosec^2(2x) - 1

dy/dx of cot²2x :confused:

is there meant to be a rule of thumb i am meant to use or do i have to use the chain rule? As this is part of an integration by parts question and its only 4 marks, using chain rule on that is nearly 4 marks :confused:

Unparseable latex formula:

y=\cot ^{2} 2x \\[br]y=t^{2},t=\cot2x\\[br]\frac{dy}{dt}=2t, \frac{dt}{dx}=-2cosec ^{2}2x\\[br]\frac{dy}{dx}=\frac{dy}{dt} \frac{dt}{dx}=-4tcosec ^{2} 2x\\[br]\frac{dy}{dx}=-4\cot 2x cosec ^{2} 2x
