    Ok.. now that you get it... can you explain it to me..

    is it just that H+ is one of the reactants.. and thats it?

    edit: Dammint - that was a load of rubbish. Nope - i was wrong, i haven't got it. I guess I'll just remember that acid is needed (in excess) and reduces the MnO4- to Mn2+. Maybe I'll start a new thread asking why that's necessary.
