Hallam is like 77th compared to Brookes which is 40th in good uni rankings for English. Looks like Brookes wins.

Cool  I'm applying to Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield and either Reading/Manchester/Birmingham but think it's probably safer to go with Reading!

Yeah I loved Sheffield when I visited:smile:, haven't seen Manchester's. Did you get offers for both? What were they?
I'm hoping I get in, my other A-level subjects aren't as academic which will probably lessen my chances :frown:

Yes I got offers for both with grades ABCE at AS Level:
Manchester- English Language- AAB
Sheffield- English Lang & Ling- ABB (with an A in English Lang/Lit)

And I don't think for a minute that having less-academic A-Levels would put you at any disadvantage at all, so you'll be fine

Hello @mimimiememem

There are many different things to consider when choosing a university, you can look at rankings which will give you an idea for where they rank in comparison to each other or to see how students may rank the course e.g. looking at NSS scores which show students satisfaction. However rankings are a only a guide and do not match what every student is looking for.

The most important way to decide is by visiting, being an international student have you been able to visit at all? its the best way to get a feel for the university itself, the facilities for your subject area, meet tutors, lecturers, and other students. It is also key to have a read of the course profile on the university website to distinguish which course you feel interests you the most, which areas they teach about and the modules they offer.

You can find a lot about our International student offer here and we have also created this video which tells you a little bit about what you can get involved with at Hallam as an international student.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you
Rachel
