Rather than actual film making, how about a film course at a prestigious uni (not that unis that offer practical courses arent good, they just seem to be frowned upon by employers) that is theoretical rather than practical? at warwick you can do a film degree which is purely theoretical and academic and not remotely practical. you can also combine it as joint honours with english. they ask for quite high entry requirements though and it is studied in very similar way to english or history.

English Literature, Cultural Studies, and Art History, would be my best guesses.
