I have a lump in my neck just under the back of my jaw. It's not especially painful but there's a sort of dull ache. I'm getting it checked out tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything like this? Thanks, Leanne

ur glands could be swollen....or you could be taking the mumps Leanne, just wait to ya get it checke dout by a professional  good luck  xoxo

Hey, I had that! I even posted a similar thread on here.
Its your glands. Mine went away after 2 days so yours might too.
Hey, do the medics think it could be some sort of allergic reaction, something hay-fever-esque?

it seems strange to only have it on one side though. I haven't had my top up of the MMR jab which means I could have mumps, I was ill when I was supposed to have the jab and then didn't have it done in exams. Damn it! I have asthma, but not serious and I don't feel particularly ill or anything
Hmm, ive got this weird hard bit on my neck; i've had it for absolutely ages (perhaps a year and a half), it hasnt grown, its really quite small, not visible.

It is under the skin. Dont know what it is tho.

Any ideas?
that's called ur adam's apple (larynx) md
Like many have said before it could just be a swollen gland - goodluck with your doctor's appointment though!!!

Smiler

Mumps goes from one side of your face, dies down, then appears on the other side if you are unlucky.

Could be a cyst?

I've had that before and it was only in one side, I think it's normal for the glands on one side to swell and not the other . It'll go away in a day or too!

right below your ear or under the jaw? mumps is usually swelling of the glands below your ears on the side of your face, other swellings are probably just minor infections.

if you feel physically bad (symptom of mumps) or have any other symptoms then go to the doctor, otherwise I think leave it until you do. Try not to cough everywhere, and if it's mumps then don't worry because you've already given it to most people you're in contact with (its ifections before symptoms show)
