Sunburn :-(

Yesterday I got very very sunburnt - I dont mean to gross anyone out but it was so bad that the sunburn on my tummy has made it all swell up and on my chest its started blistering. I've smothered myself in aftersun but is there anything I can do to prevent a)peeling skin and b)further blistering

Many thank yous

& don't forget to stay out of the sun! if the blistering gets really bad a trip to the surgery might be in order, but katy's suggestion should help quite a lot.

 I hate the doctors more than anything - would they do anything except give me some cream to put on it?

Thanks for your advice katy- I will certainly give it a go!

It depends how bad the blistering is. You can also pick up some 'sun-burn lotion' from your chemist but they're mostly made up of the same sort of stuff you'd get in a moisturising bath.

And use sun block next time you naughty girl :p:
Just to steal this thread as my problem is also about sunburn. My arm got a bit sunburnt on Monday and today although the redness has started to go it is really starting to itch. It is really annoying and I'm not sure what to do about it...Starting to worry that I am not going to be able to sleep very well tonight because of it!!

Its a cold bath for me then, though I have put some after cream on, its my own fualt, it looked cloudy when I went out, but then I was delivering 500 leaflets to 500 homes this afternoon in 27c with the sun shining very brightly like it does in June.

I looke like a christmas light, I am surprised I am not glowing in the dark.

I've found that the best thing is pure aloe-vera gel. You can get it from Holland & Barret. Put it in the fridge when you're not using it and it's soooooooo lovely when you put it on.

Get a tub of natural yoghurt from the fridge and smear it over yourself, really does work.

Only problem is, its bloody cold to the touch so be prepared to be jumping all over the place, and after about 20 minutes it starts to kerdle(sp?) and stinks horrible.

After that, wash it off in a cold-ish shower.

Ok, go sit in a cold bath then! Personally the thought of sitting in something at about 20degrees when my skin is at about 50 isn't something I'd relish.

The yoghurt is the best course of action, I got a bit burnt today and used it!
