if you do something you enjoy studying it becomes very easy..

Some people just have that particular kind of memory, to be told something once and remember it. I find I can do that most of the time, it's different when you have to apply knowledge rather than simply know the answer, that requires real intelligence and proper study.

Up until A-levels I did literally no study at all. AS/A-levels I have had to do a bit of revision of stuff before the exams, probably should have done more than I did buit I wasn't used to revising I suppose.

I have just always found that so long as I understood something the first time (I pick things up very quickly) even if I don't REMEMBER it in the stricest sense I can normally sit and puzzle stuff out by understanding. I a utterly crap at just learning lists or whatever because if I forget something I can't use anything to remember it.

See I find it way harder to just learn an answer

I guess some people just have a really good memory and are just really smart. I'm sure that Paul does study but he does not do it every day like HELL like some of us do  Wish I was that smart.

Anyone who says they never study but who still gets good grades is talking out of their ass.

Urr no... I didn't study at all throughout school and I got very good grades. The reason for this is that school exams are a piece of piss. University, on the other hand... if you don't put in the work, you won't get good grades (mostly).

You can do well in exams and coursework if you know what the examiner is looking for. If you know the exam technique you wing quite a lot of it even if you don't know much about it. A lot of people revise like crazy and when it comes to the exam instead of answering the question they just write down everything they know about that topic.
Knowing the exam technique is more important than revising everything about the topic in most cases.

Natural Intelligence.

Does such thing exist though?
Some people lie about the amount of revision they do.....others have really good memory. I knew this boy in my Psychology A-level class who had photogenic memory and remembered everything in the text book. You could literally pick out a specific section of a page and ask him what's on it and he'll remember :woo:

I do believe some people are born with better memory, but it's still something everyone can work on.

Or otherwise, it's just about finding your strength (i.e. the studying technique that works for you) and exploiting it

I've just learnt to live with the fact that soe people grasp things quicker and easier than others and therefore are more intelligent or naturally as in they don't need to reread things.... way of life

yep this
listening in class is a lot to do with! and it's not just acedemic stuff, it applies to everything, like sport, some people will only need to be taught a skill once and they can use it in game play, others takes weeks or even months to get the hang of it....

would disagree with that in some way, people are intelligent in different ways, maby somebody can remeber science better than you, but you might be able to remeber actors/artists names or poems better, and I might be better at learning new piano songs than you....

(I acctually can't play the pinao only grade one though :p: )

yes

But, surely you're not born "intelligent" and it is due to the environmental factors. I don't know, I've always been sceptical about natural intelligence :s-smilie:
Guess we've just different views on intelligence
