    Okay, so to determine peaks, how far along the carbon chain do you look? You have a H atom and its bonded to a carbon - do you then look only the atoms bonded to that carbon, or do you look at what carbon chains are bonded to that carbon too?

    For low resolution you just look at how many hydrogen environments there are and usually its 1, 2 or 3. Then u look to see if the molecule is symmetrical as if it is then one hydrogen environment is the same as on the other side and so it is counted as one.

    all chemistry teachers are just crazy weirdos! mine doesnt even follow the syllabus 'its all chemistry' har...

    he doesnt mark papers with mark schemes either :confused:

    hehe - o dear! btw, I think i was wrong, having had time to think some more. 5 environments in this example i think...3:1:1:2:3

    Yes it does, you just might not see coupling to it.
