you beat me too it!

Got an offer from Brunel, and interviews from Surrey, B'ham and Southampton. Anybody else got offers or interviews at any uni for civil?

Got offers from Nottingham, Loughborough and Dundee, and an interview for Manchester.

I applied last year though too (screwed up my A levels so I didn't get in to either my Firm or Insurance (which were Bristol and Southampton if you're interested)).
I'm applying to Nottingham, Queen's Belfast, Cardiff, Sheffield and Newcastle.
Just got my reference today and, hopefully, I'll be able to send to application by the end of the next week. I'm getting worried already, people are getting offers and I still haven't sent it...

Had an interview today at Bristol for civil engineering. Was just like an informal chat, the questions were on my third subject (Geography), with Maths and Physics being the first two; why I liked Bristol; what my extra-curricular interests were and what my interests in civil engineering were. There was a little dabble into topical stuff, with civil engineering's place in society. They also did a tour of Bristol and a presentation. One of the student guides said that if you were invited to an interview then they're willing to give you an offer, the interview is just to determine what, and to see how interesting you are.

There were some people that had had interviews at Bath and Leeds, and they said they were very similiar...

Wuh-oh. My personal statement isn't even done, never mind sent off.. Infact, I haven't even chosen what universities to apply to yet. Applying to Liverpool, Edinburgh, Heriott-Watt, UCL, and undecided atm though it looks like for Civil with Structural Engineering. Good luck guys. (:

From what I've heard from companies, they prefer graduates with degrees on a single area ie. Civil or Structural, not a bit of both.

Hello there, since there're an areo eng thread and a chem eng thread, i thought it would be nice to have one for civil eng too:biggrin:

HEYA! am applying to UCL for civil engineering too!

i would like to know more about UCL civil engineering as well. the course content and the department itself. i wanna know what's wrong with UCL ranking for engineering... does it depend on which university ranking you're looking at? :s-smilie:

i wanna apply to UCL because of the friendly-homely environment they have. and the bonus is; its in London itself!

anyone mind to share their experience? your help is very much appreciated!:biggrin:

Don't know why its got a low ranking for engineering, but take league tables with a pinch of salt. As long as you get Chartered after your degree, it doesn't matter what uni you went to.

I guess to be a Chartered engineer, you have to do Masters right? Is BSc sufficient to obtain the status?

Which unis are you applying to? Are you specialising in civil as well?

I am pretty set to be studying in UCL. (:

You need an Meng, or a Beng + Msc. So either way you need to do a masters.

Yeah civil, at Soton, L'boro, B'ham , Surrey and Brunel.

I've never visited UCL but sounds like a very good uni.

I plan to study BEng at UCL. and do Masters elsewhere. Do you know what's the difference between Msc and MPhil? Apparently cambridge only offer MPhil... so im not certain whther its the same as MSc.

Why didnt you apply to UCL? JOIN ME!

I don't know the difference between Msc and MPhil, and I'm not sure what Cambridge offer. Either post a thread in the forum or email your chose unis directly.

Lol, it's too late now; I sent off my Ucas back in late October. I considered it but at the end of the day I'm happy to go to either Southampton, Loughborough or B'ham.
