I know that the exam boards can take it into consideration if you have circumstances that could affect your exam results, but what proof would they ask for? For example - serious illness of an immediate relative? Would they take the word of a teacher, or would you need some sort of doctor's letter? (I didn't think you could get notes for other people's illness)

(see my post on the GCSE forum) my friend died during the exams, but i dunno how they would take that into consideration - do they count the day we found out or the whole period? but at least we have proof. maybe if they is something you have written which is half right or unclear they would give you the benifit of the doubt..?

    You'd probably need a doctor's certificate

I don't know how you'd go about getting a doctor's certificate for someone else's illness, but I imagine they'd require some sort of proof, otherwise anyone could get away with saying their mum was ill or whatever just to get extra marks. Ask your exams officer.
