I am... but I doubt I will because I don't think I will actually need it...

But I'll wait for a offer first!

I'm not sure what you mean by "need" it, but the main reason I wanna go is just so I can see what it's like and get a feel for it. If I do go, I probably won't go for the whole 9 weeks. We had a guy come talk to us about it in school today and he said you can come as often or as little as you like, which is good cos I think I'm going on holiday in the middle of it.
Yeh, i'm going. Although it was mainly as a back up plan incase I didn't get an offer.

If you go you will not only help your first year work and chances of getting in, you will also meet friends in smaller classes...

Making it much easier to start uni knowing that you already know some other people to hang about with, even on freshers week.

I needed an ABBC

I got a BBCC

Summer school got me in.

Does anyone know if this summer school runs for all courses?

Subjects at the summer school are Biology, Business & Management, Chemistry, Computing Science, Economics, Engineering, English Literature, Film and TV Studies, French, German, Law, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Politics, Psychology and Sociology. Most students take three subjects. See here for more info: http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/wideningparticipation/summerschool/whatcoursesareonoffer/

I had to do it as part of my offer but I'd recommend it even if you don't. Most of the people I hang around with now, I met at the summer school and you'll feel a lot more relaxed come September. Well worth it!

Yep. Maths is lovely mainly cos it's stuff I've done before but didn't quite understand first time round. Chemistry is the same, cos I've done AH maths and chemistry. Physics has some new stuff but I'm coping ok with it. Made some new friends as well so everything's lovely.
Chemistry :banghead: Not my favourite subject!

What are you planning to do at uni?

I'm a complete idiot. I assumed everyone doing maths at the summer school would be in the same class. The lad has just informed me that isn't even close.:s-smilie:

Oh well...

Nah, there's 2 maths lectures a week but they get repeated so there's 3 different classes, but you can go to whichever ones suit you as long as you attend the first and second lectures (cos if you went to two 1st lectures they'd just be exactly the same).

Chemistry
They didn't tell him that - just said he had to go on Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.

Perhaps they thought those were the only two that were close enough to each other to make it worth his while.

He drives up on Wednesday mornings and drives back home on Thursday afternoons - and he missed the first week because he had exams - so he hasn't really talked to anyone in the class so far. :erm:

See for the summer school...

I failed English and Maths this year, but I'm planning on undertaking biomed this year. (Applied this year for chem but got rejected cos of my grades). Would I have to do Maths, English and Biology, or could I forget English? Also, is the timetable more relaxed cos it's difficult for me to travel back and forth to glasgow everyday.

You'd have to ask the uni if they think taking english would be a good idea, I've no idea I'm afraid.

The timetable is KINDA fixed, but for maths...

Ah. The admissions guy just told me "don't bother with the summer school and just do the HNC" :s-smilie:
