    yup, it was like that.
    stupidly enough i made a arithmetic mistake that i realized just as time ended, n got an answer of 2 2/3
    i feel so bad about that cuz i KNEW i had it written wrong but cudnt change it
    o well..the rest of it was all good..that question was easy as well -- i just dont kno how many marks i'd lose for that!
    do u think it will just b the answer marks n not the method marks? cuz i used the wrong value for part b as well getting a wrong k :rolleyes:
    anyway, im attaching the working!
    what does everyone think the boundary will be? o n how many marks was the COM question in total?

    I cant remember exactly what it was out of. I think it could have been 4 or 5 for part a and 3 for part b. I would think you'd lose at worst 3 marks (1 for each wrong answer and 1 for the mistake) but you might still get full marks for part b and just lose 1 or 2 for part a.

    I don't know about the boundary, it was a resit for me so I can't really compare it very well with past papers.

    For the energy question (was it last?), was there a loss of PE and a gain in KE?

    Yup 2/7u is correct, which is smaller than 2/3u, therefore no collision
    Ah yer thanks. Well I got that one wrong then (well I got it right when i re did it after the exam :-/ - if only I hadn't wasted time by not reading question for CofM and doing it as lamin first and having to redo it then I may have been able to redo this correctly, oh well nm). I hope I get some method marks anyway haha. Still, hope I haven't done too badly.

    Is my Thrust question stuff right: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show...=1#post2429504
    ?

    last question on the paper right?
    it was √29 = 5.39 (3sf)
    i think thats right (as both my SUVAT and work-energy methods came to this same conclusion)

    Methods to 7c)
    initial KE gain (when initial speed is 0) : 0.5x3x5²=37.5J
    so if initial speed is now 2,
    KE gain is still 37.5J
    0.5x3x(v²-2²)=37.5
    v²=29
    v=5.39

    SUVAT method:
    a=25/16=1.5625
    u=2
    s=8
    v=?

    v²=u²+2as
    v²=4+2(25/16)(8)
    v²=29
    v=5.39
