How long can you go without human interaction?

just a general wonderment to see how social people are.

How long could you go/have you gone/without speaking to anyone

1. via any source (so no net, phone, etc ..)
2. in real life

and I guess a side to this: how long without meaningful interactions? so speaking to someone serving you at the till wouldn't count for example.

I could probably go for a few decades - nearing a century. :yes:

I love interaction but I don't need it, and I love complete isolation just as much.

The longest i've gone without human interaction would be a little over a month when my parents left me with my auntie who liked to travel a lot - consequently leaving me alone in her house for a month or so. I spent the time reading, writing, drinking green tea and staring at her amazing view (this was in Japan). It was pleasant and I sorely miss it.

I dont know. Stranded on an island; I reckon I could last my whole life. I don't think I need people. The only think that would drive me crazy is lack of sex, but I could probably find some wild animal (like a goat) on the island to feed those urges.

just pondering about how social humans are

and what would people engage themselves when not interacting with others

would they go loopy left to their own vices, etc ...

it's not about being dependent on people or lonely
it's about going brain dead or psycho
you couldnt have meaningful and intellectual conversations if there isn't another person.
probably could go witout real life interaction for a month
without phone/computer and without real life interaction...2-3 weeks.

how long could you go "comfortably" without.

like humans can go without food for a damn long time, but comfortably?

I think most people develop some kind of mental disorder. like schitzophrenia or summin.

Probably a few days, maybe a week, at most. I'm a rather infamous hermit in my home and introvert at school, but really, while I don't like people, I appreciate their company :p:

A day inside without seeing anyone in the flesh and I go slightly loopy.
Don't think I've actually gone even a day without any social contact though, so I can't really answer t'question :dontknow:

I could probably survive maybe half a year-a year before descending into insanity or committing, but I certainly wouldn't be happy in the least bit.

I think most people develop some kind of mental disorder. like schitzophrenia or summin.

I could be a case example.

I have "in my dark days" spent 2-3 months without any interactions

and 5-6 months without real-life

certainly effected me.

I doubt I could spend any more than a couple of days without any human contact, though I haven't really had to before so I'm not sure how I'd cope.

hard to say until done, I've got a big family and a fair whack of friends. But I am pretty entertained by computer and TV, most people go on facebook or just watch the same old programmes they've seen already.

How long can you go without human interaction?
