    These types of books aren't meant to be realistic they're fantasy books.

    Every child should read War and Peace instead of Harry Potter - it's mcuh shorter than all 5 books combined and is much better overall.
    I read it when I was 9 and it really changed me.

    unfortunately i read practically zero fiction... ill try and read W&P next year.

    That's probably why it's boring. Far too long is spent describing and it's not like I read close enough to appreciate it all anyway.

    I heard War and Peace was a really good book but i havn't gotten around to reading it yet.

    Oh. and no Lord of the Rings does not suck! niether does Harry Potter even though they arn't the best books like everyone says.

    never read potter, never want too. I commend its ability to cross all borders of literacy, very few books can be enjoyed from all regions of society.

    however whether it is very good i'll leave that to others...
