and "makepovertyhistory"--if so, please join me so i can restore my sanity

Hate the sentimental tone, hate the "lets all come together as one, as humanity", hate the "I care the most, i've got the biggest soul, the most compassion, the most humanity" tone. **** OFF PLEASE..i'd like to have a more objective, balanced view, but these grating people are putting me off the issue....

Depends on which issue i suppose..i guess it's the tone i dislike--i mean ask them if they care more about 100million africans dying, or their sibling/parent dying? Its because of that that i hate the contrived, melodramatic emotion, i think its.......innappropriate(can't spell it)

I hate them all. If they wanted to really help they'd advocate free trade. They are all on an ego trip. I will not contribute anything, we already give too much in aid.

They do advocate free trade, to be fair, don't they?--and i do agree with that--the EU giving massive subsidies to farmers is wrong imo

If they do, its obviously not enough as i have not heard of it. Instead of asking for peoples money to give them handouts they should have a free trade campaign.

I am now longing for a Keith Richards--- a rock star who talks about drugs and TV's thrown out of hotel rooms is now less of a cliche than one banging on earnestly about politics!

I'm sick of it too. I also refuse to conform to the wristband fashion. What kind of insecure ******* needs a wristband to prove they contribute to charity?

It demonstrates that you care about Africans and pop culture - not to care about Africans is a sign of Hitler worship, not to care about pop culture is a sign of asocial personality disorder.

I wear a 4 day stubble as a sign of laziness.

The 70's generation had Maggie Thatcher and "God save the queen" by the sex pistols...now that would have been interesting...the 60's communism/capitalism, the stones...80's Thatcher--The Smiths....what do we have ? Earnest, earnest, earnest, earnest establishment Coldplay and all the other establishment toads in the campaign...our generation is a bit crap- imo we're not in any great era....Britpop was overhyped-don't get me wrong, i like Oasis(they are oiks, which a rock star should be, and they don't go on about politics ) New Labour was/is overhyped too.....

No its a sign that i look to family, friends first and foremost...be interested to know how it links to Hitler worship though...Its also interesting that not long ago, it was deemed perfectly socially acceptable to put a ball and chain on an African, beat them, and generally treat them as an animal and slave, now suddenly everybody's a paragon of compassion...that doesn't sit right with me.....is it a guilt trip?

It's probably just a sign of the times - where people feel they need to give in order to make themselves feel better.

I think he was kidding about the Hitler worship, though...or at least I hope

Mission to Civilize II combined with a socialist mentality that throwing money at a problem fixes it.

I think its gd that someone is standing up for the people who cant stand up for themselves.

I do envy them though cos its quite hard to help ppl in other countries cos its so expensive, i was looking at going and doing a few months volunteering this summer but i cant afford to, but, as long as someone is helping it doesn't matter who.

Its silly to not support the campaign cos u disagree with the personalities involved or the wristbands. Poverty is the biggest challenge of our generation (tho some wud say its terrrorism) and we need to solve it or facethe scorn of future generations.

Also, if u are obsessed with the terrorist threat, solving poverty would go a long way to helping the problem!

No. The people who support the campaign just to get a wristband and feel better about themselves should be shot.
