I chose Warwick as firm and York as insurance. Therefore Warwick must be better!
Nah... actually I chose Warwick because I have visited the campus, but haven't got the opportunity to visit York. Also, Warwick is a little closer to London. And yeah... Warwick kind of beats York in the league tables, but the difference is infinitessimal (however that's spelt... )
I really liked York from the prospectus - but then went to Warwick and fell totally totally in love with it. So vibrant - and really my kinda place York.... there were mitigating circumstances but i REALLY didn't like it when i went
York and Warwick have great reputations so well done for getting offers from both. Basically I think it really depends on the details of your course and the individual departments. Eg. If I was investigating English departments I'd go for York over Warwick. You can't lose wherever you eventually study.
I'd say Warwick has a better arts programme and the students at York are terrible drunks: they throw stuff at your window (speaking from experience here).
i chose york because the decision was made for me, since warwick rejected me, (i was interviewed for both.) But on reflection, the course at york and the city itself suited me more anyway. I did like the Arts centre @ warwick, but the campus was a bit too concreaty and spaced out.
I got offers from both, and rejected both in favour of Edinburgh! However, before Edinburgh's offer came through I'd decided that Warwick would be my first choice. I loved the history course and the campus had a great atmosphere when I visited, unlike York. It seemed to be my kind of place. I liked the strong drama scene, the 'arty' vibe (courtesy of the Arts Centre I guess!) and general happy buzz. Architecturally it isn't as nice/interesting as York (my opinion only!) but I just 'clicked' with it more.
But I agree that the city of York is definitely much nicer than Coventry - though don't forget that Leamington Spa is very close. Warwick's location is what ultimately made me choose Edinburgh. Plus York has all those lovely ducks!

and they're not all drunks @ york!
The ones at Goodricke college are (college is a complete dump anyway)
