Yes

Number Stairs

1=50 1= Bottom square of each stair total 50=total
2=56 2= Bottom square of each stair total 56=total
3=62 3= Bottom square of each stair total 62=total
4=68 4= Bottom square of each stair total 68=total

6 between all of them (i.e. 56-50=6)

nth term=dn+(a-d)
a=50-d=6

nth term = dn+ 44
nth term = 6n+ 44

y=6x+44

(x(x+1)/2)n + (g+1)/6 (x-1) (x+1) ( x )

would someone mind telling me how you found this formula and if it is right as i have been given a different formula as shown below

sum of an 0.5c(c+1)

where a is equal to the increment
c is the number of columns + 1

this should generate the formula for any stair on any size grid. Or so I'm told

Hello,
I just read through all this and it's all there, but in a really big mess with bull sh*t as well. So here is my attempt at nicly presented formula.

S = Stair size , eg a 3x3 stair s=3
G = Grid size , eg a 10x10 grid=10
A = Amount of 'n'
N= bottom left hand corner of shape
in 2 steps :

1) (Sx(S+1)/2)= A

Hope this brings as much gloating joy in to your life as it has mine i have two days to finnish writng this up and cover rotation !

for everyone that has trouble finding the formula for any step number stairs on any grid the formula is:

n= number that the stairs starts with
x= the number of steps
g= grid (ex 10 by 10 grid, g=10)

n(1/2x(squared) + 1/2x + g+1/6 x(cubed) - g+1/6 x

if you write the formula out its much more clear.

good luck everyone.
