BEST COLLEGE IN DURHAM?

Afternoon people!

im in yr 12, well end of yr 12, and now weve started our A2 stuff.

Am seriously considering applying to durham after looking at the prospectus, bt i need your help!

Plain and simple, which is the BEST college?

ie: socially, and most of all living accomodation

plz help!

Cuths has the longest bar hours and will have a *new* accomodation block, so you would in effect you could be the first, first year in it :smile:

Sorry, but there officially is NO BEST COLLEGE!!!!!

Every college has good points and bad points, it absolutely depends on what YOU like:

Traditional/old college buildings: Castle, Hatfield, Chads, Johns
Modern/new college buildings: Mildert, Trevelyan, Aidans, Hild-Bede, Grey, Collingwood, Marys
Randomly living around Durham: Cuthberts

Big colleges: Hild-Bede, Collingwood, Grey, Castle, Hatfield, Aidans, Cuthberts
Medium colleges: Mildert, Marys, Trevelyan
Small colleges: Chads, Johns

Big on sports: ALL OF THEM
Most college spirit: NONE, EVERY COLLEGE HAS A LOAD OF IT
Best college grounds: THEY ALL HAVE GOOD FEATURES, DEPENDS WHAT YOU LIKE

Have you got the hint yet? You can't say there is one "Best" college, everyone on here and 99% of the people in Durham will officially say that THEIR college is the best. For example, I'm at Trevs.....and I think that Trevs is the best.

Jus choose which one you like the sound of or go visit. The choice is not as crucial as it would be with oxbridge, but remember that places such as Castle have loads of applicants (note only the very best get in).

Trevelyan gets the best academic results of any college.
Trevelyan has the lowest drop-out rate of any college.
Trevelyan has the cheapest bar in the university, and is the only bar with the ESP certificate.
Trevelyan practically owns the DUCK shield.

In conclusion?

I wouldn't bother, say you dont get in, then bit of a waste. Look on the uni net, read wat others got to say and at the end of the day you'll wanna apply to one of the bailey colleges cos they looked the nicest. (I have visted so far and they are). If you put two and two together you will get Chads.

I was originally going to apply to Hatfield... then I went to see it and totally changed my mind... applied to Trevs instead. Of course the bailey colleges look nicer, but that doesn't mean they're better :P.
