apart from that, i would really like to wear a bikini as i look really odd when all my frineds and most people on the beach are wearing them, and its only me and the under4s wearing a swimming costume, they are only small, and not like really deep ones

Where are your scars? I take it you mean on your arms and legs, or other part of your body, because you wouldn't have asked otherwise. :P

I have the same problem with scars. I can't wear anything short-sleeved (even in the blazing heat) due to scars. If I'm going to the beach, I'll wear shorts, a strappy top, and a light shirt of some sort so I'm covered but not hot. For swimming, i just get in the sea in my clothes, which gains me some really weird looks, but I've given up caring. I just don't want my Mum to see them, or else I wouldn't bother in the first place.

Oww bad memories... I'll give you one thing though:

There was a post about that some weeks ago, and someone suggested this good cream from Boots that also helps against stretched skin or whatever from pregnancies.

If it's wrists, you can go for a vast number of charity rubber bands - come on, everyone's doing it!

Or you could use some wristbands.

I'm guessing self harm then

The only way really to get rid of them is over time. They will then fade to a silvery white colour.

If you only have a few, then Elastoplast's Scar Patches really help, but they cost about £20 for a box and take 6 weeks to work. If you have loads it would probably be too expensive.

Bio-oil is cheaper. You just rub it into the scarred area. I think it takes a bit longer to work, but is easier to use on larger/more scars.

Any moisturiser with Vitamin E will help slightly if used regularly.

Does this stuff help even though you've had scars for years, or does it just work on fresh wounds? I'd like to flatten down scars which have healed all 'bumpy' - does it help do that, too? And will the bio-oil and moisturiser help after so long as well? So many questions - sorry!

i will look for it tomorrow, thank u so much for all of your help

Bio-Oil helps to reduce the appearance of all scars (both new and old) by improving the condition of skin with scar tissue. Bio-Oil helps alleviate the discomfort frequently associated with scars, such as tightness and itchiness, as well as relieving the dryness.
ive been looking on the website, here is the answer to tatty's question

The scar patches definitely work on old scars. I'm not sure about bio oil, but the website should tell you
