size 10 too big?

(please keep anon, he visits from time to time)
It came up in a conversation we were having yesterday, as to what he thinks the ideal size for a woman is. He said he prefers skinner girls, as in smaller than an 8/10. That's fair enough, he's entitled to his own opinion (in my opinion, an 8/10 isn't exactly fat but anyway...) but the thing is, I AM an 8/10. He knew that.
I'm currently losing weight and have lost 10lbs since the end of October, but I was really aiming for a size 8. His comments have made me really paranoid about this though... is it really small enough? We've been going out for over 3 and a half years now, so obviously his opinion does matter to me, as much as I try to tell myself it doesn't.

He told me I was being silly when I pointed out I was hurt by his comment, and reminded him that I am currently an 8/10. He dismissed it by saying "an 8/10 looks different on different people. you look thin, but another person who wears a 10 can look a little big. I just meant I prefer skinny in general... forget about sizes"

But obviously it's difficult for me to just forget his comment about my dress size being too big! Am I being totally stupid?

in a word, yes.
for a start, he probably has virtually no idea of what a size means. as he said, it looks different person to person anyway.

even if you were bigger than his ideal, it doesn't really matter. are you honestly telling me that he is your physical ideal in every single way? Nobody's perfect and nobody should worry that they aren't!

How did you lose the weight????! tell meeeee please

And.. maybe you're over-reacting about this? Just be honest with him and tell him how you felt about his comment, I don't think he meant it to offend/hurt you at all.. but just BE HONEST with him..

It's called sensible eating and plenty of exercise.

I really don't understand why girls are like 'omgz how did you lose weight1?!?!?!1111' as if it's some big secret or miracle cure. You just eat less and move more, it's no secret.

And OP, get some balls. You bloody well KNOW a size 8/10 is not big. I don't know if you're 'gullible' or just 'impressionable' but seriously, it's not up to anyone else to decide what size is healthy or good for you.

And lastly, for your own peace of mind, never EVER ask a guy what size is ideal for a woman because you can guarantee that it won't be the answer you're hoping for.

I wish some girls would wise up a bit, honestly!!!

Of course a size 8 is small enough! Unless you are REALLY short and have a tiny frame, in that case you might be a bit over average. But really it all depends on your body type... I know it's hard to not be affected but please try not to.
For example my BFF is really tall and skinny (a lot more than myself) but she wears a 12 and I wear a 6/8.
I would like to hit this man. He wants a size 6 and under? Is he skinny himself??

he probbly has a double chin and sweats between his flabby bits, what an idiot.
Girl if he's been with you for over three years he won't have a problem with your body. And unless you're a midget you must be really skinny! If he makes comments like that you should counter with a comment like "and I like big muscles on a guy" or something. He must be deluded tbh.
No, it's not too big.

size 10 is perfection in my eyes. I'm a size 8 atm but I'm tiny, and want to get slightly taller and put on a bit of weight so I'm not as skinny as I am now (I'm about 4-5kg underweight ), and hopefully get there :yep: It just looks healthy.
people have different tastes.. some guys like skinnier girls and some guys like bigger girls(not that size 10 is even big)

nothing wrong with being a size 10.. if its your natural shape and build that will be what looks best

newsflash : Guys can't help what they're attracted to. I'm sure lying about it would have been a better course of action
don't lose weight for any man, especially one that sounds like an ***hole
Gah! Wish i was a size 8/10. Hate being a size 8. ;|
You are like the perfect dress size, thank your lucky stars girl! :L

Then he's a prick and his opinion is irrelevant like most prick's opinions.

I have an easy to follow rule regarding the amount of fat that should be on a woman ... but now I'm married I've been told I'm not allowed to share that rule with anyone else ...

Point is, being size 8-26 is less relevant in relation to your "attractiveness" than whether you're obsessed about what size you are. I'm willing to bet that most of the happy-go-lucky "plus size girls" on TSR are in good relationships with hunks. It's the miserable ones that think their weight is the problem with their attractiveness ...
I'm sorry, but anyone who could ever refer to a size 8-10 as "big" is either totally blind, or has no concept of size, or in fact reality, whatsoever.

Damn right. But if it sells magazines, then why would they stop selling the idea of a magic formula? Crazy women.
