I see...

Other causes of nosebleeds are colds, high altitude, allergies and medications.

I'm a hayfever sufferer :frown:

I suffer really badly from hayfever and have always had to deal with copious amounts of nosebleeds throughout the summer (including last week in my chemistry unifying concepts exam! ).

Chances are thats what this is, how long did it last for?

I've got bad hayfever as well, and i suffer from a lot of nosebleeds, although they've improved in the last few years. I had one in my biology exam last week! No one noticed, just sat there holding a tissue to my nose

they are just an annoyance.

sometimes i'll blow my nose and it'll come pouring out immediately.
I think low iron levels are one of the causes of nosebleeds - pregnant women who don't take extra iron often get them (no idea how I know that!).Lack of iron I think weakens the blood vessels slightly so they're more prone to rupture (or at least the ones in the nose...I'm not a medic, but this is what I've heard happens). Or dry air, which irritates the blood vessels in the nose. I get quite a few nosebleeds and they usually happen in libraries, classrooms, bookshops, places with books in which are also quite dusty and dry generally.
Hope this is useful...
I've had nosebleeds before when i've been stressed, and if i'm really stressed parts of me (joints, fingers, knees etc) seize up.
I get nosebleeds all the time in summer, I think it's because of the heat or my allergies (I get really bad hayfever). They can also come on due to stress, but for me it's normally heat or allergies. They don't tend to last long, about less than a minute, but I get 3 or 4 a day (5 once). It really freaks the teachers out XD

I think nosebleeds are a symptom of stress - and possibly anxiety, too. Sometimes when I have a raynauds attack I get a nosebleed aswell (and the 2 aren't related, at all), so I think the stress and anxiety a raynauds attack causes me can lead to a nosebleed.

Ditto, maybe its the smog? Not so much now that I am older but often enough in pass Summers. Stress can make you ill full stop though - more likely to come down with something. Shakes, colds, headaches, nosebleeds anything...

i randomly got one when i got outta the shower once. i put it down to stress and being too hot.

It is almost certainly from the heat and pressure changes at the moment. Was there a thunder storm today where you live?

Haven't bothered to read the thread, but dont' quote me on this but I remember my GP telling me that virtually any illness can be caused or worsened by stress from heart attacks to asmatha attacks. There must be some exceptions, maybe nosebleeds are one of them. Still a good reason to "destress" though!! best wishes

I have hayfever and found that when I used Beconase nasal spray regularly, I'd bleed all the time. My nasal lining always seems to be red and bloody, even though I don't bleed that often now.

About this time last year, I had two long upper septum nosebleeds  NHS Direct said don't worry, but it was all trickling down my throat and coming out my nose... not pleasant. Sounds like I should have seen a doctor.

If the arteries and veins in your nose are prone to bleeding then sometimes it's hard to stop them from bleeding: once they start it's hard to stop them. If they've become fragilised once then only bending forward can make the pressure in your nose increase and make the blood flow.
What can fragilise those small veins in the first place can be anything: do you use nose sprays for allergies? A bad cold can have the same effect.

Stress/Lack of sleep will increase the pressure in your nose and make your nose bleed. It's happened loads of times to me in the past.

What you can do is get some rest and there's special tissue/pad you can put (sorry I can't remember the name but any chemist will have them) in your nostril to make the blood coagulate and repair the vein.
