Does anybody know something about Interantional relaions in KCL? How about its teaching and research quality? Thanks

The undergraduate course is not called International Relations per se; the course is War Studies, but is classified as Politics/International Relations. At postgraduate level, the new London Centre for International Relations offers an MA in International Relations (http://www.kcl.ac.uk/depsta/wsg/news/lcir.html). The Centre has particular strengths in Its focus on International Relations Theory, Conflict Analysis, and Ethics. In the latest Times Rankings the courses were rated third, after Oxford and Warwick.

For the undergraduate course, it is a far more specialised course, and actively chosen by students. The selection process includes an interview, and grade requirements are up this year from ABB/pass to AAB. You could expect similar standards for the Masters, I presume!

The teaching and research quality are second to none; it is one of the very few 6* rated centres of excellence for Politics/International Relations research, and the QAA score is constantly 24/24. Staff lead in the field, and their research is fed back into undergraduate teaching. The department has excellent links with the MoD, Armed Forces, FCO, government (in general), and institutions such as the Royal United Services Institute, International Institute for Strategic Studies, Chatham House, the Royal College of Defence Studies and so forth. Students also have access to the War Studies Group, which includes the Centre for Defence Studies, International Policy Institute, King's Centre for Military Health Research, the Defence Studies Department (at the Joint Services Command and Staff College), and numerous research programmes.

For more information see http://www.kcl.ac.uk/warstudies and, to answer your query in greater detail, http://www.kcl.ac.uk/depsta/wsg/prospectus/whydept.html.
