I got 34, which is broadly equivalent to 3As and got offered a place at all the universities I applied to (Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham) which included the University of Edinburgh...
I have been told that the IB-A level conversion is based off your results on you higher level subjects.
7 = A*
6 = A
5 = B
And that your SL subjects count as an AS level.
34 is a very good score actually, and will get you to many universities. Some of the most competitive courses require 34 points and above.
4A*s does not equal 45/45. At my current uni, I know quite a few people with 4A*s, but only one with 45/45. Available statistics corroborate this. On the other hand, given that the IB average is 30 points, I think that 35-37/38 is equals AAA at A-Level, aligning with most UK universities' entry requirements. Just my two cents.
