Teeth!

Just a question. I wore a brace for about 4 years when I was at school and my teeth were nice and straight  I wore my retainer all the time I was told to, then just at night til I gradually stopped wearing it BUT then my teeth went a bit crooked, ok that sounds worse than it is, they're not awful but the tooth next to my front tooth on the right is a little bit back compared to the rest. If that makes sense?

What are my options to getting it fixed? I don't want to wear braces again, unless they're hidden, as in not a train track, and it really isnt *that* bad just annoying to think I wore a brace for ages! Can I get a cap put on? I don't want any of my tooth filed away either! So I'm kinda stuck, so any help would be great!

Has this happened to anyone else? Wearing a brace for so long only for something like this to happen? I mean my teeth are straight and white  just the one tooth out of place!

aw that must suck, even if its only a little movement i can understand y ud be annoyed after 4 years of braces!! My sister has this problem but she hasn't done anything about it. I expect if you made an appointment there is def something an orthodentist could do to help! but u would most likely have to pay for it! my advice would be to call up an orthodentist and see what they suggest.
I haven't worn my retainer for about 4 weeks!! think i might wear it tonight now!

Yes it's happened to me! It's really quite annoying because we wear the brace for soooo long and then the retainer. Mine have started to go abit wonky and it's my right tooth next to my front one that seems to be the problem! I really don't want another brace but I do want straight teeth!

I am not happy because they say I have room for my wisdom teeth but I can see the difference with my teeth ever so slightly starting to move and I want them out cause I do not want bunched up teeth after all I've been through. I will be having words with my dentist.

something similar happened to me too! I wore braces, and my retainer for just a little bit...then stopped! biggest mistake! I have a little gap in between my two front teeth now! I don't want braces again. I was hoping they'd just give me a new retainer, but I havent' gone yet. I might have to sort it out here in the US before I came to the UK....it might be cheaper?

My dentist wants me to get braces but I don't want them...I have a gap between one of my canines and another tooth and he claims my teeth are slightly offset which could cause problems in the future...I would get them, but I just can't bear the thought of going to school looking like an idiot... :frown:

im probably gonna have the same prob but with my bottom teeth instead. by orthodontist told me that i will have to wear my braces once a week for the rest of my life! a pain but better than having a jungle for teeth!
that happened to me, but onyl slightly, so i dont worry about it. my wisdom teeth are out and my teeth still look straight, so unless its incredibly noticable, i wouldnt worry about it (but it IS so annoying for them to even be a little crooked after being so straight!!!)

 Have you seen your ortho about this, gems??

He/she might be able to create a retainer than could help this problem, then I guess when you're ready you'll be able to use your usual retainer again.

Hope things work out for you, and I hope I've helped - even if a little.

happened to me. Went to my ortho and he said there are a couple of options
1) they can sort of file away some of the enamel either side of the tooth which has gone back, and they they put something infront of it. So it looks like ur teeth are now straight, but they actually arent

2) braces again

he gave me another retainer to wear at nights, and said i should go see him again when i'm ready. But u've got to be careful, because without the retainer, u teeth are likely to keep moving

I've moved to a different area since my orthodontist days so I'm going to have to mention it to my normal dentist now, or find another orthodontist. But yeah, I wouldn't mind another reatiner, I just don't think I could face having another fixed (train track) brace :frown:

Thanks for all your help everyone

This sort of happened to me. I wore a retainer, then traintracks for a couple of years, then another retainer, and I didn't wear it as often as I should have, so one of my front teeth has returned to its sort of wonkyness. You can't actually tell, just looking at me, but I can feel one edge of it sticks out more than the other. I just hope it doesn't get worse! :frown: They look pretty straight now, compared to what they used to be! So I don't think I will be doing something about it just yet...
The person who said they don't want traintracks because they don't want to go to school looking like an idiot, I am sure you really won't look like an idiot! You will probably feel like it has been worth it in the end, and so many people wear traintracks.
Hey i ahve had a similar problem but my teeth r definatly better than they were!! wen i put my retainer in now it is tight sdo it is obvious they have moved :s-smilie::s-smilie: honestly if they not not i would leave em y go thru it all again haha i know it is so annoying though! I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth!

Me too, and I am not pleased. Whenever I complain about it my family and friends say 'oh it's nice' or 'you can hardly notice it' or 'Madonna has one too!' Grrr.

Hey don't worry. Braces are now pretty much accepted as 'one of those things'. In america braces have been seen for a ong time as a symbol of affluence due to the cost of private treatment. Most of my mates didn't notice for about 3 or 4 weeks after I got mine!

Hm...I suppose that most people do have them now, and they'll be off before I have to go to uni, but still...There are some people that I'd rather not see me with braces..

If your teeth were overcrowded before the brace, then it is likely that your teeth will go slightly crooked.

I am currently wearing braces, had them on for 2 weeks *sobs* and they told me that after my brace i would be wearing a fixed retainer, which goes behind the teeth so i gather it is unseen.

If you are over 16, as i will be when i get the fixed retainer, then your going to be paying about £200 for it...ouch i know lol, but if you are that worried that i suggest you ask your orthodontist/dentist about it.

Hope that helps!
