Just a question... when applying for jobs or work experience... do you look desperate if you ring them to ask for an answer? How long should you leave it for a response? Or should you just wait and pray?

    Cheers.

You only get to places in life by taking action. Ring, ring and ring. Persistance is the key.

You get no where in life by sitting on the fence and waiting, sometimes you have to annoy to get what you want, persistance is the key to a lot.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Only when I rang up one company, they were rather rude to me... then insisted they will get back to me "at some point in time"... *knocks in confidence*

Well, I don't know much about travel agents but I guess the obvious thing to do is to get some work experience. One of my classmates did some before at school, can't remember who for [not that there is any shortage of them!] but she said they kept her busy so maybe you could give that a try? Most of them from my opinion seem really friendly so go for it.
