Exam difficulty between boards must vary, ie it may be possible that someone may get a B with AQA but would get an A with Edexel.

Is there any mechanism to try to counter this so that the candidate's grade would be the same no matter what board was involved?

interesting, I have always wanted to know that. But still there would be individual differences where one person may find the topics on a certain board easier than on another and so would do better with a certain board

I have done exams with AQA, EDEXCEL and WJEC and let me tell you WJEC is the easiest by some way, followed by the other two which are about the same, just my opinion but there does seem to be a huge gap back to the welsh board

ccea (northern ireland) has the hardest and challenging exams for science. if a person has the same grade (in lets say chemistry) and uniform mark as a person who did edexel ocr ect and they applied for something like medicine . then the ccea candidate gets preference. this is 100% true
