OK, i'm gonna expose my absolute ignorance here, but, (appropros of looking at scubar's sig), why are homeless people homeless? I've never really know, strangely enough. I mean, we do still have a welfare state, right? So what is it that excludes them from it? And what is it that stops them looking for cash-in-hand kitchen work in the local pubs for instance? I'm not trying to have a rant, i've just never understood this - presumably there must be some other factor at work, but what is it?

psychological problems originating from childhood, situational and dispositional, with a hint of special needs. In a nutshell (possibly, i dont know, maybe humanists are right with self esteem...)

Huh? So these options are still available to them? They're just not taking them? There goes any sympathy i might have had  There i was imagining the 'system' was somehow screwing them.

ay? no, i was referring to your comment, ' And what is it that stops them looking for cash-in-hand kitchen work in the local pubs for instance?'

I have no idea on government policies, the system or whatever, but there must be some options for them  I just think they exhibit a state of 'learned helplessness' which prevents them from seeking out the things we do.

I only really like green dragon tea - so no sugar.

I had to come in here because no-one is in the <1000 thread.
Doesn't the fishy smell get to you in here?
