    Yes, they can only see things in grey. Cats can see faint colours.

    It's to do with rods and cones I expect. They're two different types of sensory cells that humans have in their eyes - rods can only sense black and white and don't give such a high resolution (but there are many more of them and they're very sensitive to light), and cones let you see colour and detail. I'd guess that dogs only have rod cells in their eyes. Anyone know for sure?

    ok i think ive found out (for those interested)
    dogs can see just as good as humans that have red-green colour blindness. whereas humans are sensitive to red, green, blue dogs only have yellow - blue or somethin like dat

    mad idea i know but has any1 ever thought dat colour might not even exist. humans see it coz evrythin is just an impulse and the black and white light is simply changed into colour by the brain. just a thought!

    I do believe that another colour may exist, but I am positive that without actually seeing it we have no idea of what it looks like, i.e. we cannot imagine how it might look (and mix together existing colours to create it). This is because the human mind is based on experience.

    Realises this was not actually the question.
