How far is it to travel from St Andrews to Dundee?

There are two buses to Dundee from St Andrews and one takes 20 minutes but the other takes 40 minutes. The 20 minute one leaves St Andrews Bus Station every 15 minutes or so during the day. It is the same bus you would take to get to the train station (which takes about 10 minutes at most and costs around £3.50 return).

I'm not at St Andrews, I just went there for an open day in April and loved it, but I would not be applying if Dundee was that far. I mean, apparently Dundee is a dump but it has essential shops for me like Topshop, H & M, Mango etc. I figure that if I went to my second favourite university (Leeds) I would be at least 20 minutes by bus from the shops anyway so it does not matter about St Andrews being in the middle of nowhere. Ten years ago though, to do ANY shopping at all you had to travel to Edinburgh, now at least Dundee has quite a few shops and if very desperate St Andrews has New Look and Monsoon Accessorize.

Depends how fast you're going obviously... :P

If you're driving, it's ten minutes between. The buses can be bloody slow because they seem to delight in taking you on a tour of ****** Fife towns. I'm not sure, but I remember hearing something about a free direct bus between the two Unis (they used to be joined until the 60s, and St Andrews lacks some facilities)

Most of the St Andrews students end up going to Dundee pretty regularly, so it's not a problem.

we could have a barbecue! - roast lamb mmmmmmmm lamb kebab!MMMMMMMMMMMM I dont see anything wrong in sacrificing really, we have to kill animals to eat them anyway! No difference in killing and sacrificing really.

Its about 10 miles or so from st andrews to dundee, I used to travel from the east neuk of fife to dundee (aberday uni) via car, was about 30 miles each way, took me between 30 - 40 mins travel time.

people talk about dundee being a dump, depends on the area really, and it costs alot less being a student in dundee then it does in st andrews. Also depends if you can live with the well to do people that go to st andrews uni or the everyday struggling student that goes to dundee/abertay :wink:

couldnt comment on busses as thats a swear word to me, trains, well I think you would need to travel to leuchars(yup the raf airbase place) to catch a train

i'm going to apply to St Andrews and I'm a normal struggling student, although my mum has said she will remortgage to give me money and I don't really eat value food. I am normal, but I do have the typical accent though.
