TSR is definitely the authority on this issue. Not, like, NHS Direct or anything.

From wiki:

"The drug is considered relatively safe in overdose, although fatal cases of dosages 840 mg to 1960 mg have been reported."

Well 'have been reported' can mean almost anything, people have been reported as having heart attacks from drinking a single can of Red Bull. However, the lowest ever death was from at least over 800. I should think that makes your friend relatively safe :dontknow: Time for bed now I think ... :hat2:

Is 560mg of citalopram a dangerous dosage? Can it be fatal?

Idiot, call the ambulance instead of posting here.
This is not a poisons unit.

Howver, generally it is not fatal at that dose:
"Ingestion of less than 600 milligrams in adults generally results in mild effects. Seizures have developed following
overdoses which have exceeded 600 mg of citalopram.
Five non-fatal cases of citalopram overdose (up to 5200 mg) resulted in seizures developing in 4 cases and all (five cases) had
QT prolongation, sinus tachycardia and inferolateral repolarization disturbances. "

On the other hand, age, gender, bodily habitus, coexisting renal and hepatic dysfunction, coadministation of
CYP3A4 and 2C19 inhibitors and coadministration of alcohol or other recreational drugs can all affect the outcome.
And under the right circumstances, you can get lovely serotonin syndrome. That is always lots of fun.
Call that ambulance.

Also, from a quick web search:

A. Ingestion of less than 600 milligrams in adults generally results in mild effects. Seizures have developed following overdoses which have exceeded 600 mg of citalopram. Five non-fatal cases of citalopram overdose (up to 5200 mg) resulted in seizures developing in 4 cases and all (five cases) had QT prolongation, sinus tachycardia and inferolateral repolarization disturbances.
B. LACK OF EFFECT - Doses as high as 2000 mg have been taken without observable cardiovascular abnormalities.

Edit: I see I found the same source, flugestuge
