Toothpaste + Hair Spray - Toothbrush = Sunblock
Sunblock + Toothpaste - Hair Spray = Toothbrush
Toothbrush - Hair Spray + Sun Block = Toothpaste
Toothpaste + Tooth Brush + Sun Block = £4.17

Let:
Toothbrush = T
Sunblock = S
Hair Spray = H

1.39 + H - T + S
S + 1.39 - H = T
T - H + S = 1.39
1.39 + T + S = 4.17

Rearrange the first and second equations so you have 1.39 as the subject:

1.39 = S - H + T
1.39 = -S + H + T

Subtract second from first:

0 = 2S - 2H
So you can see that S = H

Save that for later and deal with the last equation. Rearrange to give:

T + S =4.17 - 1.39 = 2.78

Now use the third equation which can be expressed as:

T + S - H = 1.39

You know T + S = 2.78
2.78 - H = 1.39
Work out that H = 1.39

H = S so S = 1.39

T + S = 2.78
T + 1.39 = 2.78
T = 1.39

So they're all the same.
EDIT: That's way beyond what a year 6 should be able to do, your sister's teacher is really mean!!!
