Well, it's much better than being in the middle of a city...put it that way!

We also have an olympic size swimming pool too!

.. If you like beaches.

.. If you like beaches.

I was thinking more about the location and environment than the beach...and that's by no means the best beach on the Gower....

I want a beach! Lol, at least I'm only down the road in Cardiff. I can come and visit

Yes....it's good to know that there's a gorgeous beach next to the campus, not that you'll be visiting it that much since you spend 3 months of summer at home during the vacation
If I don't get my grades for Swansea, I'll be absolutely mortified.

When I went to visit I frolicked around on the beach for a while and saw lots of studenty types playing frisbee (badly) along the beach.

I did my first degree at Swansea - graduated in 1999. It's a fantastic place! But Swansea bay is not where it's at! Jump on the bus to the Gower!

Any current Swains Eye-ians - do the Geography Soc still hold their annual summer beach party at Caswell?

I still have my obligatory 'Univeristy of Wales, Swansea. BSc in beach studies' car sticker!

Ahhh!! Sweet memories!
and during holidays it will be packed with people

I go to Swansea, and in the summer term the last 2 years I've been to various beaches lots of times. BBQs on the beach are especially nice...

There's lots more to Swansea than a beach and a swimming pool! For example - great sports reputation and facilities (hosting the British University Games next year), maritime quarter, street market and Wind Street in town, low rent, friendly campus, great research reputation, many academic departments rated excellent in teaching, lots of cultural events on campus, great nights out...

The location (beachfront, Singleton Park, Gower peninsula, Brecon Beacons etc) is just the icing on the cake!

I think the university is undeservedly underrated sometimes.

I absolutely love it, anyway (in case you hadn't guessed already...!)

Because there are a lot of muppets out there with a) no sense of humour and b) not much of a life!

Given some of the threads and posts on here, if you got neg repped for that, I seriously wonder about some of TSRs users!
Fluffy - I know there's a Geography ball, but I don't know if there's a beach party. I think I heard something about it, so maybe it is still on...

Ohh! The beach party was organised by the Geog Soc, but was a uni wide thing, with buses going to Caswell from town, Campus, Cline, Beck and Hendre (ala Summer ball stylee).

There was a huge sound stage with fab bands, bottle bars and usually Swansea Sound or Red Dragon FM covering it and providing music in the gaps between bands. If it still happened you would know about it!

I don't think it was on, then - there was a proper Summer Ball on campus this year though (apparently there hasn't been one the last few years), so maybe they didn't do both because of that.
Clyne halls isn't used anymore by the way, I don't know if you heard about that.

We just to have our balls up at the air-field... They rocked the big one!

Things seem to be on the slide a bit, socially :frown:
