K, interested in doing medicine, been on various career days etc. Spoke to a friend who did 3 Sciences and Archaeology (+Maths AS) and got into Nottingham, and it appears he felt doing a non science based subject gave him an advantage.

Atm i intend of doing 3 Sciences and Maths and maybe doing Government/Politics to AS.

So does doing a more literary based subject prove to be advantageous when applying for medicine. Your thoughts please.

Some medical schools do state on their web pages that offering an 'arts/humanities based' A2 is an advantage (but none state it is a pre-requisite).

If you want more advice on this subject go to www.medschoolguide.co.uk, go to the forum and have a look around. The entire site is full of med students and people applying to med school - maybe go to the A-levels forum, or med school admissions as there are a lot of people on the site who could offer advice on this!!

I have decided to do the BCP and Gov.&politics all to A level hopefully--i love gov&politics and as a social science it relies on many shared principles and methodoligies as other sciences--if i was asked at an interview why i chose it--are there any other viable reasons?
