I'm taking a gap year and want to do a job to earn some money. I've seen lots of job agencies in my area for jobs. I saw some positions posted on the window, and they didn't mention any qualifications for some jobs. I'm just wondering, if it is worth it to apply for jobs in a job/employment agency, as I'm quite worried job/employment agency jobs posted are might be for adults with higher education qualifications instead of for GCSEs/A-levels.

You can't usually 'apply' directly for jobs in an agency window - they're often 'tasters' of the sort of work they offer and are not always genuine jobs.

You sign up with an agency and then they will 'put you up' for jobs to which they think you are suited.

Alright then. I wanted to go into the job agency, but they were closed. Therefore, I just looked at the jobs on the window. In the first place, I thought you can apply directly for the jobs from the agency.

Yeah, I will sign up with the agency and see what they can do for me. Thanks for the suggestion fluffy.

Alright. I'm planning to go to a job agency on thursday. I want to do this job, but they don't have it in the job agency. Should I still go in and fill in the form to see if they could find me that job?

If you want to end up working for an agency who will take a large cut of your salary for doing so.

Just contact people directly with your CV and a speculative covering letter.

Yep, but for temporary work you still get paid alot, and one agency my friend works for (office temp.) guarentee you £6.20 per hr. You didnt think they'd do it for free did you? But for long term you are better off just applying youself, altho an agency does open more doors.

I joined an agency today, and have just got 3 days of promotional work at Silverstone! So they do work. And they don't take any of my payment, the agency charges the company.

Not neccessarily. I've done plenty of agency work and often agencies provide your services for a fixed fee to the company in question and employ you themselves. This is generally for short term roles (i.e. I spent about 7 months temping once and never worked in the same place for more than 3 weeks).
