But maths and english are the two fundamental subjects. Too many people are doing courses that don't equip them with any skills whatsoever.
oh dear, i do neither :p:

I think some form of Maths as well as English should be compulsary after GCSE's if you proceed to do A-Levels.
I know the Canadian system makes you do maths up to year 12, and english up to year 13 though. I studied year 10/11 in that system. I was suppose to study until year 13 in that system, but moved here instead.

I don't do maths or english at A-level, as I'm worried I won't do quite well in them.

I do maths, further maths, English Lit, RS and thinking of taking up French next year. Not really a random combination though!

    Spanish, Maths, Art, Economics

That as random as you can get.

I do very similar subjects, almost the same: Maths, F.Maths, Physics, Computing.

And I know 11 years of English was enough for some people.
You can certainly say that again!! I'm so happy to never have to take an english exam ever again

my initial AS choices (Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Philosophy and English lit) were quite random, but I then deicded to go for a more 'normal' set of subjects.

Bit of a weird competition type thing!

    Mine are:

    English Literature
Maths and Further Maths (I might drop FM later this year...)
    Music
    Economics

Who else thinks their subject combo is a bit random and mixed?
Mine's very conventional: English Literature, French, History and Law! Are you applying for English Lit 2006 then? Any ideas where yet? I'm applying for a combo course of English Lit and History everywhere but Cam, I really recommend the York course - it's incredible

I think that maths and further maths with only arts subjects is random. Only because ppl who do further maths are normally science buffs
