This might sound a bit obscure but would it be frowned upon if you added that you were a reputable seller on Ebay in your statement because i have no other work experience. :frown:

Btw, my statement is geared towards business/management.

can i then suggest that you get some work experience over the summer? Even volunteering would be better!

EDIT: sorry, i realised that my post sounded a bit harsh, so i'll try and explain myself a bit!

If you don't mind me asking, how much do you sell on Ebay? I know that a lot of sellers have online shops, is it that big? If not, then I'd leave it out. As far as I know, its not exactly a common thing to put on a PS.

As i very briefly said before, getting some work experience would be the best thing. Try and get some over the summer, although it is a little last minute, but try writing a polite letter to as many relevant businesses to your course as possible. If you cant secure work exp, then volunteer... (check out www.yearofthevolunteer.org) its probably the next best thing!
i think that maybe it would be better to get some work experinece or at least somehting else to put on your ps. Why not do some work experince that would look good for the course you want to apply to. It only has to be for a couple of days during your holidays but would look a lot better.

If your basing your career on business studies etc. Then just include in ur PS that you've got a business and over the summer holidays start a business :bandit:

I wouldn't put ebay on my cv personally unless I was a massive power seller
Spin it - say you spend a deal of your free time earning money through running an internet-based business, and you've gained a great deal of maturity and experience through choosing to do this, rather than working in a traditional part time job. Don't lie, though. :p:

Thanks for the replies, the general jist seems to be a harsh no so i'll stay away, lol. I'v got some some work experience from college and school which i'll put down and try to get some more over the summer.

U can metion what u plan to do with ur chosen degree - what jobs interest u most after and why etc. But do spin it like blazed said. Say how its helped ur financial management and organizational skills. - thats what i did for Mech Engineering, my only work experience was for the CooP, completely irrelevant!

"...I had responsibility for Saturday newspapers, the resulting paper work, correction of delivery errors, as well as training new staff in their duties. "

Really, i folded newspapers saturday mornings, wrote down a few numbers, and on my last day, had to show my replacement the basic ropes!

Wow, NickNack, you certainly can spin it! Haha... I'm unsure whether to take the risk but if you could start me off with a sentence or two, i'd be grateful.

lol  the thing is if/when u get an interview (at least for me) its cos the next day ur getting an offer, so as long as u can answer questions convincingly they wont care. Gimmie some time and ill PM u something, theres no point in posting it publicly so anyone can use it  might b a bit obvious when an admissions tutor reads 5 statements with the same sentence rammed in the middle
