Hi, I was just wondering what were other peoples experiences of this subject like. I am taking for A-Level (depending on my GCSE results), and was wondering what people have thought about it.

I had an induction lesson in it today, and I liked what I saw from what it entails. I particularly like the creative writing element of the subject.

This is the first time my school has run this particular type of English subject, and will probably be the last, as we are the last year to do A-Levels before the introduce IB.

What were the two novels you had to study?
We have to study two books called 'The color purple', and 'The scarlett letter'

It's really independant. There is a lot of learning to do on the closed text exams, it's fun though and certainly improves your writing.

Yeah, it's a good course, I had to do Poe's Selected Tales and Chandler's The Big Sleep, the coursework module's a gift - pretty much creative writing.

I loved the coursework. I compared two diaries, Adrian Mole, and The Diary of a Nobody. The anthology bit was ok too, but the coursework was definitely the most enjoyable. I enjoyed the A2 year much more than AS, i found it pushed me more and i enjoyed studying Shakespeare in a really different way to the rest of my school life. xx
