I'm sorry, Sir, quite frankly I just don't give a quack.
That's not even funny. That's just fowl.

Well I think the highest, proportionally, of all reasons for students not to want to apply somewhere is the fear of rejection because most want to get a place at medicine because it is simply such a great career - this perception can be driven by 'supposed prestige' and that in itself can correlate with entrance requirements like you said.

I know the surveys are flawed, I made it very clear that they give you "ONLY an idea" and not necessarily a "true reflection".

That is just a difference of opinion. People value different things so yeah you'll never get "definitive" agreement.

Mate, stop...your digging a hole.

That contribution to this set of puns was quite poultry, in all honesty.

Ranking for medical school? Choosing a medical school based on ranking?

I think you should be happy with a place at ANY medical school. I doubt they rank medical schools any way. They should be at the same standard.

No. I knew of an Oxford grad who didn't know a lot of basic stuff when he started work. Everyone at the hospital was like wtf how did this guy graduate. When it comes down to it, you just have to be good at being a doctor, and your knowledge and aptitude to practice medicine far overrides the reputation of the university you attended. Did whoever it was that took him on, pick him over others because he was impressed that he had attended Oxford? I don't know, but I'd say that that's all quickly forgotten once you start the shifts, and begin being really tested on the job.

Okay. :p: I was almost hoping to be warned, just for the awesome attached message along the lines of "you must not make excessive puns along the theme of ducks in a medical thread".

No, not to me anyway. Although, some of my mates think that I should have applied to "better" medical schools considering my grades

To be honest, there may be misguided fools who will be impressed if you went to Cambridge but there will be an equal number who just think that you're a pompous g*t.
Indeed. Both views of course, being equally silly. Hopefully the majority of people will judge you on your ability as a doctor and will realise where you got your degree from is irrelevant.
