Should i get my hair done b4 holiday?

I'm going on holiday next Friday, to Maila (Crete:biggrin:) and am wondering wether i should get my hair done (cut and coloured) before i go?

I usually have a half head of highlights and a cut and blowdry... The last time i got my hair done was about 4 or so weeks ago but because of the colour i need to get it done quite frequently.

I was thinking if i do get it done, it will be in better condition but i don't want the colour do dry it out whilst i'm there.

My roots arn't too bad but they might benefit from being done :p:

??? what to doooooooo ???

do it, why not? I'm getting mine done before i go (also to Malia). Just check with your hairdresser that you won't have a problem with the dye and swimming in the sea/pool. xx

I read it's not a good idea to get your hair done immediately before a holiday.. I think it's because obviously dying and styling damages your hair, and added on to loads of sun and sand and sea/chlorine will make it worse and your poor hair will take loads of punishment in a short time! Plus I've found that personally, when I get a hair cut, I spend more time on my hair making sure I get the most out of the cut, and if you're the same, then you don't want to spend your holiday preening and straightening/waving and lugging loads of products in your suitcase and so on.

On the other hand, if you feel you'll enjoy yourself more with a new 'do, then go for it- it's not as if damaged ends can't be trimmed afterwards and so on

I think you should wait until after your hol. Sun, sea and sand won't do wonders for it, and if you swim a lot the chlorine could turn the blonde bits green. Who cares when you're on holiday anyway? Wait until afterwards when you're tanned, then you can get it done along with a good conditioning treatment and look amazing! (And not green!)

Hi Hana_87,

so you're going on holiday and want to know whether you should get it done before-hand.

Of course the choice is always gonna be yours, however if I were you I'd most likely get it done before you go, considering the exotic-looking destination   I know, I'm finiky and don't like change unless I'm confident it's for the better :p: But with your local dresser, you know that you can predict what the outcome will be/or are more likely to do this!

Yep, I'd go ahead and get the highlights done if I were you b/c there are plenty of protective sprays you can get nowadays that guard your hair against drying out in the sun.

Here's one I love during the summer months: Redken Colour Extend with UV filters  Not sure if you've got that in the UK, but check! B/c it's excellent.

TRESemme is also a really good brand too, and from what I know, that's already from the UK isn't it? Lol the Aussie Vogettes have all been talking about it, which is kinda how I know  So yeah that's good for most hair types, particularly damaged.

Alternatively you could go for a change and put a red rinse in  Wish I knew what you looked like so I could give you more detailed advice, but nevermind :/

Anyway good luck with whatever you decide to do, and I hope I've helped somewhat,

Yep, that's a good idea too

Sorry I thought you meant you had the choice of getting your hair done before the hols, or during the hols  Don't mind me, lol, I live on the other side of the world and we're in our winter atm  Takes slightly more thought for me to understand your problem, then help you with it :frown:

Anyway yeah, Lauren's idea is also pretty fab too  :p: I like it also, so yeah it's up to you. If you want to look your best for the hols, then get it done before, otherwise arrange for the appointment to be after you come back all tanned or whatever. Alternatively if you're rich you could do both, but tbh if you are, then you're very lucky coz even I couldn't afford to do that.

Not on my student budget anyway  Ok I hope I've helped a bit anway
