Ickleangel and Stevo JCR, just a few more questions (thanks for taking the time to answer you're really helping me out here)........

I thought all the halls looked ok from the pictures but they aren't exactly gonna make them look bad are they! lol. As Stephenson is so popular i doubt i'd get in there anyway which doesn't really matter, cos I'm not that bothered where I go aslong as i get on with the people living with me and i don't have to share a room. How did you meet everyone else when u first moved into your halls did you just knock on all the doors along your corridor or something? Do you find that u makes friends mainly with the people on your course or mainly the people you are living with?

Also, why are they knocking down most of the halls? and when is it happening? I hope i aint gonna be living on a building site (if i get in). Also how long is the walk to the arts tower from the student village? An when people from Stephenson, Sorby etc go clubbing in the city centre do you all usually walk back together or just get a taxi (I'm really not sure about the distacnes). Thanks
I'm sure me & stevo JCR can stop arguing for a lil bit 2 answer ur qns!!
wherever u end up, ur gona have a good time & whoever u talk 2, they're bound to have a bias towards their hall because of loyalties, etc. because EVERYONE has th opinion that sorby is a s***hole, ppl in there tend to stick together, add to th fact that ppl @ sorby have dinners @ earnshaw, u have a ready made community!! one thing i'm gona miss nxt yr is not havin th awkardness between ppl at dinners after a heavy nite out!!!! lol. bumping into ppl walkin in & out of halls is brill too!!

like stevo JCR says, when u get ther, u'l be given ur keys & shown to ur room by a former hall resident/welcoming committee. they'l tell u wher the main facilities r, eg toilets, showers, kitchen, utility room, etc. thn u move ALL ur stuff in...by tht time, other ppl will prob be doing exactly th same thing with their parents. on our corridor, we kinda just said hi & etc. as we saw e/o. our corridor was the epicentre of socialising so we sat ther a lot in th first couple of days talkin & gettin to know e/o. my parents took me out 4 dinner on the first nite so i missed our first floor outing (they went to "bedroom" on west street & bar one) but whn i got back,i went straight down to th hall bar in earnshaw & evryone was really friendly so it was easy 2 make friends. some of th ppl i met on th first nite became regular dancing buddies too!!

walking-wise, it takes 20-30 mins to walk to th main campus bit. th worst bit for earnshaw/sorby ppl is th hill 2 get back onto th main road, ther is a couple of ways round it & u'l soon find out when u get here! all my lectures were @ th octagon & we left 30 mins b4 they started (mainly coz my m8s were geeks!) its not uncommon 4 ppl 2 be late so i wouldnt stress abt it al that much!! i'd say that if u were in halls, ur more likely to make friends with ppl u live with but it all depends on who u get on with more?! my closest friends r th ones on my corridor but i also have really good m8s on my course as well!

it's gona b a disaster when they do knock evrything down! i've seen th pics on th website shoing wht its gona look like. although it looks really posh & swanky, it's gona lose a lot of community-feel which is gona b th main prob. apparently, nxt yr's lot wil b th last lot but bear in mind that they've bin sayin this 4 the past X number of years! lol.

walking/taxi-wise, most ppl wil get taxis on th way ther. to the union, it'l b round £4, to kingdom/coroporation £5 nd gatecrasher/leadmill £5-6. on th way home, it wil depend whether u want takeaways. its nt uncommon to walk on th way home, it takes arnd 40 mins 2 walk home frm kingdom/corp, less frm union. nt a great idea to walk from gatecrasher though! lol. but it's pretty safe to get NEwhere but as with NEwher, as a girl i wouldnt WALK newher on ur own jst as caution!

i cant wait 2 meet al the new freshers & hope u guys hve as much as we did!!!! xx
