Hehe well me and Em have a system because neither of us ever had a pet name (for the record em is my mate, i'm not gay) So she is my sugarmouse and I am her honeypie

Thanks to a long and convoluted story Phil and I are BOTH lion cub

And my ex was referred to as my little wolf....

Babe, hun, etc. Not exactly the most original ones.

I hate being called babe with a passion, and he hasn't actually come up with one yet. I call him honey/hun a lot, but I call everyone that. Recently I've taken to calling him "boy" which I find quite condescending, but I like it

I called my ex while we were going out: hunnie bunny, hun bun, hun, hunnie, bunny, ma lapin, PinkLIzad, sweetie, mine, luv and babs. There are more but I can't seem to remember them at the moment  .

was it some kind of paedophilic role-play?

I have a "fake boyfriend" (don't ask), so we call each other a lot of jokey pet names - darling, baby, hon or honey, sweetie, gorgeous etc...it also depends on the persons real name. He calls me Rachey (some of my mates call me Rachy Doodles, I'm unsure why), and I have a guy mate called Greg - I call him Greggy, or Ickle Greggikins coz it winds him up as he's about a foot taller than I am :frown:

Sadly, it wasn't.

Baby is a lot nicer than babe, I can't stand that. Sounds sweet I think. Baby girl is used all the time in hip hop videos, and as she is a bit of a hip hop hunny, she loved it when I called her that.

I don't like babe and baby very much, they feel patronising and diminutive. People who use those tend to get feminism in response. One ex used to call me Kitten, another still calls me Princess (um...in a kind of jokey way). I have a friend who calls me "my little courtesan", but he means it in a nice way. I call him a lecherous old bastard, so we're about even.

Surely there are more serious issues for feminists to deal with, but yes, in general I agree.

I call my boyfriend: babe, babes, dude, man, mate, "oi you" and now "Jonathan" because no one else calls him that apart from his mum
He calls me baby and he's so cute when he says it...sorry I'm probably making people vomit!

absolutely awesome thread. i always find people's pet names so funny/ cute/ plain wrong!! as for me - i call my boyfriend sweetie or honey but tbh i call most people sweetie or honey.

i call my wife peter.

Reply 16

honey bunny... but in a totally ironic way. :P

Aside from that, nothing not related to her name. Although my flatmates have a habit of picking up the phone and yelling 'Hey, L.N.*, your bitch/slut is on the phone.' Now that I write that down and tell other people, I'm really thinking I should punch them in the mouth when they do that...

*LibertineNorth is not my real name. Unsurprising really.

well my boyfriend and i always call each other baby, we probably use baby more than our real names. I also call him angelfish (random, i know) and he calls me princess or gracie baby.

i like being called baby, i think it's sweet . much better than babe.
