Yeah, some sensible bets justfarhan, but some rather silly distribution of money... two more quid on the HT - WH and FT - Liver would have made up for it... whoa, but thats probably not what you wanna hear right now!

But still, good job holding the nerve.

That reminds me of a few seasons ago when Brighton played Swindon in the Divison 2 Play-off semi final second leg.

1-0 up from the first leg we just had to hold on, but were losing 1-0 after 90 minutes, Swindon scored again in extra time making it 2-1 to them on aggregate.

Then in the 120th minute, from a throw it, Virgo headed in the equaliser and we won on penalties.

It was horrible for all of 119 minutes, but just that last minute and the penalties were great

As for the part about real football, these things happen in every league, not just lower ones. And the lower ones are generally looked over for a clash between 2 top premiership teams, or a local derby.

Lampard can't play the holding role

When they play him in his proper role and with a supporting defensive midfielder.
Surely 'the best player in the squad' or 'best of his generation (without Henry)' can play in more than 1 position?

perhaps not... but whatever role lampard plays, it has to be accomodating to gerrard in his preffered position...

the only one to successful send a ball into orbit from the penalty spot too

I've always loved Gerrard, and it's true, he can turn the tide of games, but also agreed that it's really only for Liverpool. He has yet to have his Beckham vs Greece draw moment internationally.

I agree but that doesnt mean Gerrard should go missing if he doesnt play in his best role. You cant always accommodate everyone in their best position.

Go on a Barnes coach to the match if you're a Liverpool or Everton fan and you'll see the disgusting amount of racist pricks that are supposedly "fans" of your team.

    Rooney Continues Recovery From Injury

Wayne Rooney has taken up cycling as he steps up his rehabilitation from the broken fourth metatarsal in his right foot.

The 20-year-old forward is continuing as planned on his recovery from the injury he sustained in the 3-0 Premiership defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on 29 April.

On Friday Rooney was joined by Alan Smith, who is doing well in his return from a dislocated ankle and broken leg, as the pair cycled around United's Carrington training ground.

Sir Alex confirmed that Smith could be back in action by the beginning of September, while reports on Friday suggested Rooney was ahead of schedule after having the protective case taken off his foot.

But there has been no official comment from the United or England camps and the club stands by its original diagnosis and estimated return date of six weeks from when the injury first occured.

yeh thats true. After seeing what Gerrard does for liverpool when playing in his favoured position Sven would be absolutly crazy not to let him play the same role for England and force other players such as Lampard to play in unfavoured positions, and if they can't then they shouldnt be in the line up. Gerrard so far hasnt been able to play in his favoured position for England because Lampard can only play in one place, he is no where near as adaptable as Gerrard, which is unfortunate for Gerrard who has been forced to accomodate Lampard. I think the tables should turn...

How anybody can say that Gerrard is the best European player of his generation is beyond me, especially when he doesn't turn up to international matches. I'd probably drop him for England, we'd have a better chance of winning the World Cup that way.
